Students
FOCUS continues to reach out to the local university community to make sure that students working in coatings technology and color design have an opportunity to interact with industry professionals and decision makers. This year, the DSCT and FOCUS have collaborated with local schools—Cass Technical High School, College for Creative Studies, and Eastern Michigan University—to create an opportunity for students to share their work with us.

Cass Tech High School
Founded in 1907, Cass Technical High School is the largest Detroit Public Schools Community District school currently serving over 2,400 students in grades 9–12. Cass Tech is a city-wide, college-preparatory, examination-entry school of choice located in the heart of Detroit. Cass Tech is within walking distance of the city’s sports and entertainment venues. We are part of the economic epicenter of the city. We bring a rich, documented history of educational success via a curriculum-based program of study. College for Creative Studies
The College for Creative Studies strives to give students all the tools for successful careers in the dynamic, growing creative industries. CCS fosters students’ resolve to pursue excellence, act ethically, engage their responsibilities as citizens, and learn throughout their lives. Students work in small classes and receive individual attention from teachers who are accomplished artists, scholars and industry professionals. Undergraduates declare their majors as freshmen and take both major studio and foundation courses in their first year. Recently CCS’s graduate design department has launched the first ever Color and Materials Design program in the United States. This new program is a result of automotive companies and manufacturers needing designers with a specialized expertise in colors and materials. The College also is committed to and deeply engaged in community service.
